spybotsd12 Problem

After installing Spybot, when I try to start the program it
Momentarily starts up and disappears.
I have tried uninstalling and cleaning the registry and reinstalling
but have had no luck getting it running.
Could you Experts give me a tip on getting it running.
I am running Windows XP with a P4 Processor and a Gig of ram.

If you configure it to automatically check for updates, or
automatically apply updates, when starting, it will take a while to
start. Or it will start minimised, and you will have to wait for it.

Settings - Settings - Web update - "Search the web..." and "Download
updated include files...".
