    We've got your number

Spybot S&D now finds these files on my box:
    - sdk.computer name
    - sdk.unique id
    - sdk volume serial number

I suspect that these are for invasive "digital rights
management," and get there via Windows Media Player v7. Or
they might get there from one of the two CD utility programs
bundled with Plextor CD writers (in this case, Roxio and
    Oak).

    Comments?

    Richard

Microsoft's Windows Media SDK (software developer kit)
    I believe.

Most likely installed by anything that would allow
or require encoding media into WMV (windows media video)
format, or possibly with a collections of codecs for
media playback. "Windows Media Tools 4.1" would be
    an example.

This is likely something that has been there for a _long_
time, shows up on my system now too, but nothing of that
nature was recently installed.. its just that Spybot has
been updated to include detection for it.

I'm not sure why Spybot now includes this, as I don't
believe its much of a security threat but others know
    more than I so..
