    Norton AV question

I recently discovered my 80 gig hard drive had 15 gigs more than I
remembered. After doing some searching I found out that my recycle bin had
15 gigs of protected files, thanks to Norton Antivirus. I read the help
files and the manual and am still not sure what a protected file is. Are
    these files from viruses?

No, they are just files you deleted and sent to the recycle bin,
Norton's saves them in a "Protected File" folder until
you empty "Norton's Protected Files" just in case you
    change your mind.

It's just NU's "extended" Recycle Bin function -- and at 15 GB... you don't
do your "routine housekeeping" very often do you? ;-)

    Near-certainly, no.
