Lightbulb And you think your job sucks . . . .

Halliburton fired this guy because he was "injured on the job . . . "

Two months after the ambush, Halliburton notified him he was fired, citing a "work-related" injury.

Check out the accompanying video - Strong stuff. I doubt I'd be that calm. The other related clips with Brian Ross offer a more full accounting of the story.

Sounds about right. As far as I know, contract civilians are not allowed to carry firearms so it goes without saying that their risk is pretty high. They also make about 2-3time more than they would in the USA, but it still doesn't account for the fact that the convoy left with out them, although who's to say it wouldn't have been worse if they had stayed. We really don't know how many military personnel were assigned to provide security to this convoy. If it wasn't enough, continuing on with the lead trucks may have been the best possible outcome.

Terminating the guy for his injury also doesn't surprise me, this is a typical tactic in the maritime industry and is especially common along the Gulf Coast. This is why Unions continue to exist despite many peoples assertions that they have outlived their purpose. Although, the south is predominantly a "right to work" area.
