Is anyone else having problems downloading new ref files?
I get a message that the program is not responding. I can't get to the
Ad-Aware site to do a manual download either.

I just tried and it seemed to connect but the message in my case was
"no updates available" which may well be the case.

Hi Ken,
Use this one: http://www.lavasoft.de/update/refs/reflist.zip

Install to: C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6
If you would like to retain your old Ref file, *manually* rename to:
[ reflist.ref.old ]

Silj I just finished downloading a new reference file about 2 minutes ago. I
was dated 9/4/2003. The last one I got before that was 9/1/2003. Have you
tryed again.

Hi Ken,
Use this one: http://www.lavasoft.de/update/refs/reflist.zip
Also don't forget to check out their web site occasionally. You have to have
V6.181 to download refupdates now. Any earlier than that is now incompatible
with updates.

Ad Aware switched to version 6 recently. Did you download and install
version 6?
Earlier versions can't get the V6) new updates . . .

You're wrong in one way. Earlier than 6.181 wont update so if you have V6
and it is telling you there are no new updates and there haven't been for a
while, it is likely that you have a version that is older than 6.181 in
which case you need to download the whole thing all over again and uninstall
what you have and install 6.181.
I finally found a site that works!

They will even send you an e-mail when the program or reference file are
updated.

Ken,
Did you try Lavasoft Support? http://www.lavasoftsupport.com

I often find that the new ref file does not download for 12 hours or so
after I get an e-mail announcing a new file. I usually wait till next day to
download. Maybe it's server load, with everyone who subscribes to the
Lavasoft announcements list trying to get the new ref file as soon as it is
announced.
