    Hi BoB,

Since the power outage in the northeast, my news-server has gone for a dive.
OE *does* somehow pull more - can't really explain it.
Posts using Forte are not even showing here!

Thanks for the heads-up on the new Forte, btw -

Until I get Forte debugged and news-server issues fixed, well, OE it will be.

    Sorry for the annoyance -

If you could give me a specific example of what "options" you think I've
"mangled", I'd be happy to re-examine that. In the meantime, I suspect you
need to hit Ctrl-R to see what "siljaline" is *really* posting.

    Ouch. You have my sympathies.

This strikes me as odd, to say the least. There is a known "bug" (so to
speak -- not really a coding error, but the effect is the same) where Agent
can occasionally become "confused" in terms how it *presents* the threaded
list of messages, due to the hashing that is used on Subjects and
Message-IDs when generating the .IDX files. But this generally only affects
groups with a VERY large number of saved messages; and even then, it's rare.

Beyond that, I cannot think of any reason for Agent to appear "unreliable".

    > I apologize for the messy [ =3D 20 ] posts.=20

    [snip]

Accepted, of course; but do take a look at Outleak's various settings, to
see if you can disable Quoted Printable. That's not a cure (nothing which
involves continuing to use Outleak Excuse could be); but it will likely
    solve the immediate problem.

I don't need to examine Silja's messages in raw mode; Agent displays and
quotes them correctly. Maybe the problem is that you are replying to his
messages while you are in raw mode.

You're missing the point. Without viewing in Raw Mode, you don't see the
articles as they are *actually* posted. The issue was not *my* ability to
read siljaline's posts in Agent; but rather that because they were posted
the way they were, they would *inherently* present difficulties to some
folks using newsreader software that does not "cover up" such things.

Siljaline's message was in properly formatted quoted printable. You're
manufacturing a problem where none exists.

There is no such thing, in the context of Usenet.

No, you're failing to recognize that Usenet != E-Mail.
