    Kerio Problem

I am using Kerio 2.1.5 on Windows XP Pro SP1. Just the last few days I
am having startup problems with it. I get an error as follows:
PfvarLibInit: var_server_start error 1(10022:socket() failed). It does
this about 9 in 10 bootups. It will finally start given enough times.
I have tried removing and reinstalling, no help. I have found one
other reference in a search but no solution. I like this program, but
will have to try something else if I can't find a remedy. I had been
using Zone Alarm for a couple of years prior to using Kerio. Never a
problem with it. Any help appreciated.

We so rarely see or hear of Kerio bugs. I run V2.1.5 as well.
    Uninstall - reinstall?

I agree it's pretty rare. But I did find an identical problem on the
dslreports forum. No solution. What's odd is this is a pretty bare
install as I use it for primarily SETI crunching. It's the only start
up program besides my taskbar speaker icon. I've tried the
uninstall-reinstall a couple of times to no avail. I may try a
    complete new install of XP.

A bit drastic - send a bug report to Kerio before you do that.

    Re: Kerio Problem

Just a shot in the dark but I've fixed some pretty weird problems in
the past by doing the following:

    1. Uninstall application
    2. Delete any residual files and directories
    3. Uninstall Internet Explorer (yes I know it sounds weird)
    4. Run RegClean or another registry cleaner
    5. Reinstall Internet Explorer and it's patches
    6. Reinstall application

I also reboot anytime I uninstall or install IE even though I'm not
supposed to have to do that.

If you don't have all the patches for your version of IE AND you don't
have a high speed Internet connection then I'd say try something else
first as the IE patches can be big.

Good suggestions. I'll give it a try. Come to think of it, Spybot S&D
is reporting some wrong app paths for some system files, could be
related. I have broadband and will update as you suggest.
