It means that the new NAV (and all other new Symantec products) will
have Product Activation just like Windows XP, to tie the software to a
specific computer. Given Symantec's dismal record of clean uninstalls,
I won't be buying any of their new products or recommending them to
clients. Too bad, because I've used their stuff for years and always
    liked them best.

When they do it will be time to dump NAV. I am still suffering problems with
    my system created by Turbotax.....

I think the defensible, legal answer would be as follows:
    1. You are legally allowed to make a backup copy.
    2. You are only allowed to have one copy of the software installed
and usable at any one time (the Pro version permits two for less than
twice as much as one). If your system is, as you say, dual boot, it
is all the same "copy", except for the OS-specific settings and
registry entries. Barring the use of a virtual environment (e.g.,
VMWare), you can only run a single copy at a time. And I don't know
how VMWare would react to NAV being run in a virtual environment
while the main environment is running it as well.

I, too, am sorry to hear about this. I suspect it's going to bit them in the
arse bigtime. I don't pirate software, and have paid a small fortune for the
    software I run. Nevertheless, I won't by NAV2004. I tolerate product
activation with XP, but won't tolerate it anywhere else. Symantec is going
to loose a lot of business, mine included. Didn't they learn anything from
    Intuit?

No, they learned from YOU, via Microsoft.

    Think about it.
