Glad the computer is faster. Exactly what happens with the SanDisk USB 2.0 card reader/writer? Is it not recognized at all? Is it recognized but does not read? Have you tried unplugging it and replugging it into a different port? Is it seen in the device manager? I am not certain if one of the changes could have made this difference or not. I went through my own Services and here are the ones from the list I gave you which I have set to MANUAL, not disabled. To be honest, it has been so long since I set my Services settings that I cannot recall why I didn't have these disabled but the computer is NOT slowed with them set to manual so I leave them. You might go back in and re-set these and see if the card reader works...

Judy, you are a genius. I went into device manager and found the USB universal host for that device disabled. It allowed me to re- enable and it's working just fine. I think we're done.

Happy to have helped Dave. Check out PROTECT YOURSELF FROM MALWARE: Tools & Tips
to keep the computer running free and clear. Keep temp files emptied, run the anti-virus program at least weekly. Watch what you download and run AdAwareSE, Spybot at least weekly also. Also I always recommend SpywareBlaster as PP does in the above sticky.
