ZA is an excellent firewall, and I used to use the free version. I now use
Kerio 2.1.5 in conjunction with Sponge's blocklist:

just out of curiousity, what are the reasons why you switched from ZA to
    Kerio?..

ZA (free version) became a bit of a 'black box' solution - I knew it was
blocking things, and as a less knowledgeable user that was fine. As I
started to learn more about security, I was attracted by a firewall that
allowed me more precise control over what was being blocked, and why. I was
also strongly influenced to try Sponge's blocklist for Kerio, and have not
    regretted that I did.

Personally, i wouldn't count that as a legitimate reason for choosing a
    *good* personal firewall..
Then again, you can find a keygen for the latest ZoneAlarm Pro at any crack
search engine, like Astalavista.box.sk or even Google.com and register it to
    any name you wish ;-)

but I digress.. hey maybe I'm the only one "bad guy" -)

ZoneAlarm Pro is not as customizable as Kerio, not even close.
