looking for a particular pop-up blocker

I have a cable modem and am getting bombarded with ads. I want to block them
but every program I use it blocks pictures (gifs). Certian web pages that I
visit do not work properly. Is there a program out there that i can get.

Mozilla and Moz based browsers now have a built-in pop up stopping
option which helps. In addition I use Privoxy though Proxomitron was
just as good for the purpose.

Assuming that you are using IE and will not be willing to switch to better
browsers like Mozilla or Opera, have you looked at using IE deriavatives
    instead of plain old IE.
Avantbrowser, which is the one I am familiar with, uses IE under the hood
so it has the same features( and vulnerabilities) but does popup blocking
and toolbar buttons to toggle flash, activex, etc. One other feature I
like is it has tabbed browsing.
