part of why I'm asking is this..
I usually use my Ad-aware Pro v6.0 for spyware scanning, and so I did this
time - I made sure that after I finished with Ad-aware Pro, no spyware was
    left on my computer.
After that, I tried for the first time to use this Spy Sweeper..
Well I was pretty surprised after it found 9 more spywares!! this - after my
trusted Ad-aware Pro finished cleaning and said there was none more left!..

what do you guys make of this?
i mean, Ad-aware, at least in my opinion, was the king of all spyware
    scanner progs!

SpyBot Search & Destroy is the king and it is free. Judging from Window
Washer I wouldn't allow that Spy Sweeper on my machine. Probably sweeps
them under the rug. Most of the people who post to this newsgroup tend to
use AdAware and SpyBot and Spyware Blaster, then some add Hijack This.

    right.
well, i'd expect someone to talk about a program after he actually tried it
    first..
and, naturally, i'm only interested in opinions of those who actually tried
    it

    Yes. Agreed

    Details?

I actually tried it a few months ago. It found one spyware, related to
Creative play center. That's about right since i have that installed but
disenabled from startup, however, that was a pretty harmless hit, since
it was not connecting to the internet anyway being disenabled. And even
if it was enabled, i dont think it qualifies as spyware.

You might want to post the 9 spyware that spy sweeper found for
discussion here or at spybot forums. I'm guessing most of the 9 found
    will be pretty harmless stuff.

The interesting question here is: "Was Spy Sweeper already installed,
or added later?" Perhaps it *could* have installed the spyware it found
    later itself?

I know of at least one "Trojan Hunter" who used to do that little
trick... FUD, and I don't like that business model!

I would suggest you stick to AA, use SS&D for a second opinion (or the
other way around) and when things seem hopeless... use HiJack This.

I also suggest you'd use something like "Total Uninstall"
(Freeware/Donationware) to monitor what exactly newly installed program
add to your system, this prevent you for some future surprises!

    k gotcha!

about the Total Uninstall.. i'm curious if there is a specific reason you
prefer it to all the other registry monitoring programs (like RegShot,
Advanced Registry Tracer, RegSnap, and many others of this kind)?..

Presumably because it is *NOT* a "registry monitoring program", per se. It
has a specific purpose -- application installation tracking -- which goes
well beyond simple registry monitoring. Another similar utility, which I've
routinely used for years, is InCtrl. One or the other of these should be
S.O.P. for ANY software install after the core OS.
