    Is IconsPlus Spyware?

Something strange is going on and I can't isolate the cause or correct the
    problem..

I am using WinXP Pro as my OS and have found a problem in booting up and
also rebooting and turning off the computer.. It seemed to happen after I
installed some of the Microsoft security fixes and SP-1...

One of the problems is a long delay when I turn on the computer.. I've
isolated what I think is the problem but don't know how to correct it.. I'm
sure it isn't associated with Microsoft's updates...

After turning on the computer it takes quite a long time to bring up the
Welcome and a couple of minutes loading the desktop icons and tray icons..
After they appear loaded the computer activity light is busy for quite a
    while..

During this 'busy' period I can't access the browser or e-mail until the
    activity ceases..

I use NetMedic and can see that something is being downloaded during this
'activity' by being connected to www.iconsplus.com/ .. I've run both Adaware
6 and Spybot and then rebooted and the problem continues.. I've checked and
it doesn't appear that IconsPlus is Spyware but I'm not sure..

I used RegCleaner and there is not entry for IconsPlus.. I use ZoneAlarm
Pro and there is no indication that Iconsplus is even listed during the
    download..

I've checked ADD/REMOVE and their is nothing listed on IconsPlus...

Is anyone familiar with IconsPlus and tell me what is being downloaded and
how I can stop this from happening?

    Thanks....

Hi.....If you have Zone Alarm Pro, your Internet Zone Security should be set
on High. Also, set your Program Control on High, so programs, or anything
else, has to ask permission to access the internet. It could be that one of
your "Trusted " programs is being updated. Set all programs to "ask" for
permission to access the internet, and nothing can slip by. It can be a
nuisance, but until you know what it is, don't let it "phone home" Some
trojans use other programs to access, so if you're not using the program,
    just deny permission.

Also, visit Shieldsup.com for some very good port tests. Test them all.
With a Zone Alarm Pro, all your ports should be "Stealth", if your settings
are right. Good luck. charlie R
