    CyberDetective 9.0

Is this program a self contained program that contains or access files from their own information. Or does it send you to existing websites or URLs of other providers that will ask you to purchase the information that they have?

If I purchase this will I be forced to ALSO purchase information from other sources to get the information that cyber detective promised from the start.

    ITEM TWO
It appears that all the spam and porno postings come from one domain @fhfd34.com . Can not someone block this domain from spamming the group.

No clue. This is a group about preventing spyware rather than spying on
    people.

1.) Get a different ISP that blocks mail/news from known spammers.

2.) Learn to use your killfile so you don't have to look at it.
    Tools/block sender

3.) Set synchronization to download only headers. Right click on the name
of the newsgroup in the left hand panel.

Excuse the hell out of me. This was my first and obviously last post. Who
    appointed you god.
What HTML was so offending in my email. Do you go into seizure when you see
    red lettering.

I am trying to locate missing relatives and am looking for a program to help
me. I did not ask you about spyware, I asked about a program to help locate
my family. I am not looking for spyware.

MTO you need to get a life and personality. BTW, I use my read name and
address, not a bogus name and untraceable ISP

Too bad that you feel that way. Lots of good people on Usenet.

    Who

Nobody appointed me God. Plain text is a long standing Usenet custom for
all groups other than binaries. (Read a little about usenet if you're a
    first time poster.)

The red-letter seizure as you call it is due to the fact that antivirus
programs check your email but most of them do not check usenet posts
(probably because it is all supposed to be in plain text without attachments
anyway.) More than once some cute spammer has tried the html trick of
sending viruses and trojans around through usenet. I don't like viruses and
    trojans.

You did not explain that you were looking for missing relatives - you simply
asked about a program that many use to track down information about people
they do not necessarily have any legitimate reason to track down, ie spying
on people. That the reason you now give for wanting information about the
program does not negate the purpose to which most put it.

What I said to you was that this newsgroup is about preventing/disabling
spyware - those programs that get installed to your machine without your
knowledge or consent that then proceed to steal your information, track your
movements and report back to some mysterious owner somewhere while you
happily sit around without a clue.

    and

Let me give you a clue. Every single word that you post to Usenet gets
archived at least at Google - depending on the particular group elsewhere
also. There is a cute little program called a mail-bot that runs around the
internet posting people's real names and real email addresses off pages
where they are posted. All those real email addresses then get sold to some
spammer - or more likely hundreds of them - and then YOUR email box fills
right up to the brim with offers for viagra,

ROFLMAO! Is that all? I should think it would be 10 miles! The really

be a 55 DDD bra with miles of "Willy" and take enough Viagra (real or

    Hi Ed,

In that case, I think you are in the wrong NG... this _IS_
alt.privacy.spyware. Furthermore... it is considered bad netiquette to
post HTML on usenet, go over to alt.compfreeware, ask for the program
you are looking for in HTML and you will be flamed to a crisp; this has
nothing to do with playing "god", but everything with the newsreaders
people here use (and a lot of them don't use OE...) and the result they
see because of your HTML posting (go and find your post, look at the
course of it... that junk is what they see... not a readable message!

Ed, the choice of whether people use a nym, or like I do my full real
name, is one you nor I can make for others, MTO is a helpful member of
the community, most of the time one of the first posters to a question,
and that is what counts... I cannot say the same for "Ed Bornstein"
(which could be a nym as well), so don't be F'd up because someone has
the decency to tell you about the netiquette... learn from it and use
    the info!

Good luck in finding a program (tip: alt.comp.freeware) AND your family!
    Regards
    Dick

Unaware of the etiquette, I implemented everything that MTO "suggested". I
very much appreciated the information, (and implemented it immediately)
Just not in the manner it was delivered.

I just felt it is extremely rude and inappropriate to jump down someone's
throat for not having your software package set up the way the group wants
    it.

BTW I have no idea what 'NG... this _IS_' means. do not worry your heads
I will unsubscribe from the group directly

Too bad Windows doesn't come with a usenet tutorial, but you'll find a few
really good ones by googling (that means go to http://www.google.com) for
    "netiquette"

I implemented everything that MTO "suggested". I
    > very much appreciated the information, (and implemented it immediately)

If you're going to hang out on usenet get a thicker skin. I am quite polite
and friendly even when I am being "short" compared to more than a few.

    > I just felt it is extremely rude and inappropriate to jump down someone's

    > it.

Sorry you feel that I was jumping down your throat. Visit a few more
newsgroups (NG) and you will see that I was quite tame <---that thing is
a smiley face, which means grin. I actually am one of the rare oldtimers
that doesn't mind newbies, likely because I fondly remember being one.

Usenet has been around longer than dirt and is very set in its ways. It is
much like the old wild, wild west and is as close as you will likely come to
the "real internet" before commerce got hold of a good thing.

    > BTW I have no idea what 'NG... this _IS_' means. do not worry your

    heads
    > I will unsubscribe from the group directly

There are hundreds and hundreds of newsgroups, each covering a different
topic or portion thereof. Nearly all of them get rather upset when posts
    appear that are off topic.

Of all the newsgroups that you could unsubscribe from because you were mad -
and that would be nearly all of them at one time or another - unsubscribing
from this one would be foolish. Here there is a lot to learn.
