I just got a new credit card, which must be activated by calling from
my "home" phone. However, I only have an aswering service number that
I use for my "home" number. How can I call "from" this number?

usually there is another option for people who are in your situation. Check
the literature that came with the card; worst case you can just call the
regular 'check my balance' number and ask them.
