    GAIN / Gator Spywear

Last week I used my DSL to get a large game update for my son'e new
computer. GAIN / Gator installed itself into my system without authority.

It then took control of my Internet connection with lots of activity - I
closed my connection, used Adaware to get rid of it. I also discovered my
printer had been 'installed' as a modem.

My Windows 98 SE install was trashed after the removal and any program
accessing the net caused Windows to freeze, needing the power to be turned
off to get my system working again.

After trying every fix I could think of, I had to format C and re-nstall
everything to fix my trashed system. I have since heard this is common
    damage from Gator.

It is about time everyone contacted the companies who install this crap to
get them to get rid of it, or we will sue them. Problem is, I am not game to
go back to the site to get their email address in case I get hit again!

GAIN /Gator is, as far as I am concerned, no different to a virus and should
be taken to tasl by the various authorities, fined millions for the damage
they cause and run out of business.

You can use the online Sam Spade tools to get the information:

    - or even use their secure browser to avoid getting hit:
