Hi Ira, thank you for your suggestion!
I think it's a good one, and I would like to implement it beginning
with the next post, unless someone has any objections!?

It's not only a good idea, it's something I'm mildly embarrassed about
having missed up to now. However, now that I've been reminded, I'll take it
    one step further...

Once you decide on a format for that "Version" or "Last Modified" string,
put it in the message header each time you post the FAQ, and DON'T CHANGE
IT. That way, repeat posts of the same version of the FAQ will
automatically thread directly under the previoius posts of that same version
(at least in most newsreaders), and thus be easy to recognize and avoid
    downloading the redundant FAQ itself.

You're giving me too much credit... I am not sure of how to edit
headers in Free Agent nor in my mac's newsreader- I'll try to figure
this out, but if you want to help me along, please feel free ;-)

    Er- Umm, DOH!?
I thought Jay was talking about the actual headers as in "show
headers" with all the message routing information etc. Subject header
    I can do!

    >Just out of curiosity, which Mac newsreader did you pick?

MT Newsreader- Kinda spreads all over the screen, and is a little slow
on a 56K if you have a lot of unread messages, but hey, it's free!
    What do you use?

    Yeah, good tip....
I don't really want to do the virtual PC - heck, I have an *actual* PC
that I use! -but sort of immerse myself into the total mac experience,
as it were, when I use my mac. But maybe I should try some
alternatives. Although I hear my wife producing less grunting when I
utter the words "cable modem" so maybe... maybe...
