    block redsheriff?

Is there any way to block redsheriff without turning off Java, which I've
done. I'm using win98se. IE6.0 and found that neither Zone Alarm nor cookie
pal would keep redsheriff away! I learned about redsheriff when a cookie
showed up on my computer (cgi-bin.com). I tried to eleminate it with cookie
pal but it didn't work. When I cleared all of my temporary files this
cookie remained, forcing me to delete it manually. The cookie was placed by
imrworldwide and a little detective work brought me to redsheriff.

The way I like to block persistent cookies is to place them in my Restricted
Zone via Internet Options/Security/Restricted Sites/Sites(button) and enter:
"*://*.redsheriff.com" without the quotes. I don't remember if that
particular one is at .com or .net without looking it up. Works like a
champ, and only have to enter a couple new ones a month. I don't like using
cluttered hosts lists with info in there I will never need to block.

    Hi Jeff,

    Fancy meeting you here

There's a Reg hack called "IE-SPYAD" which puts sites in the Restricted Zone.

    Here's the discussion that ensued:
    http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-b...ST;f=37;t=4105

This is exclusive of block Red Sheriff, btw. I'm having a bit of a <blank> as to
what more to comment on Red Sheriff at the moment.

If you *really* need to know, I can dig something up.

    Regards,

Hi Silj, I don't need any info on it, but thanks. I remember blocking it
once on ME, but haven't ran across it for awhile. I'll take a glance at
IE-Spyad. I've been meaning to just make my own reg file to quickly put
sites in, but only need to do so few, I haven't bothered yet. I personally
don't like entering huge lists when I only need to block certain cookies
from sites I or other users normally visit during their sessions. Just one
of those personal choices I suppose.

    Hi Jeff,

Here's something similar to IE-Spyad, you *may* be interested.
    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/restricted.htm

I use it but don't rely on it other than for putting tokens and URL's in
Restricted Sites. If you'd like a peek, be my guest

Nice of you to drop by...
