I believe I've acquired a spyware program called "Second Thought" - any idea
how to get rid of it? It keeps bombarding me with pop up ads.
Thx,
Robert

Yes, it's a known one. Do the following:
Download Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download
After installing AAW, and before running the program, first press "check for updates now".
Click "Connect" and install all updated components available. Click 'Finish'.
Shut down and relaunch Ad-Aware. It should now say "Reference File 0R 150"
Now press "Scan Now", then 'next', and let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again.
Check all found items, and click 'next' once more.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.
Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.
When you've done all that, test your system, and see whether your problem is gone.
If it isn't, go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download Hijack This.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere
Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/
Sign in, go to the Spyware and Hijackware Removal section, press "new topic", explain your
problem, and copy and paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get
expert assistance in dealing with your problem, and we'll have it gone from your computer in about
4 seconds.
