    Hi Chris,

Sorry for the late reply as I was taken down by a flu just recently.

Anyhow, You have to forget about Windows XP and 98 related install disks, etc.
The version of DOS was changed even by Windows98 so even if booting to a Windows 98 boot disk worked (not sure since I have not used Windows95 for like ever), I don't believe you would be able to run any of the DOS commands or executables off of that boot disk.

I would strongly recommend re-install Windows95 on top of the existhing installation if you still have the CD or if you have a 98 CD then upgrading to Windows98 would be better if it was at all possible.

I am sorry I can't do a solid analysis or provide any concrete help as it has been a long time since I have used Windows98.

If none of what I suggested is do-able for you then perhaps one of the other regulars could chip in.

    Let us know.

    ~TL

    win 95 errors

try to boot the computer into safe mode by pressing the f8 key on boot up.

once there click on the msdos icon on the desktop

    type the followig line:

    scanreg /fix

    reboot

Tor: win 95 uses dos 7.0, 98 uses dos 7.1, both very compatable for syntax.

    RPCRT.dll error

The cause is most likely freshly installed software for a win nt based file system (win xp, 2000) that linked the non boot drives to the remote procedure call dll. if the registry edit does not solve the issue, torcolocos reinstall is the most likely fix. There is not much support around for windows 95 and 98 but you can try this link for more advice on DLL's
