If anyone has pre-June17 posts intact(original post was between Jun 1-17, I had it but my
auto shred disposed of it)...the original author was in alt.privacy.spyware where I
originally obtained for re-post for the WinMx group that started this chain of events and
posts..And this if it was bought and paid for by the RIAA or other entity of the MI needs
to be further investigated and is possible if such is true, a criminal law suit is
possible against them for consipiracy if they are involved, there is enough of a "smoking
gun" to warrant an investigation into ES5(wanna make any bets now that it is shoved off to
the side by Adminstration favoritism if taken to the Gov'mt??). This is for the EFF to
    look into, not the Gov'mt...

Anyone else have ES5 info let's re-fuel the thread and assemble the data trails..to see
    where it leads.
This is also where the more talented folks form the underground would be of emense aid,
let's find who ES5 really is before more systems are harmed by Excalibur. As with the
RIAA, "We don't need no Steenking Badges!!"..

Something you may wish to consider is who and why ..they(the RIAA) stated they would take
any steps necessary to curb P2P, prior to actually dragging mommy and daddy outa bed and
    off in cuff's..

You just might like this added bonus that ES5 places on your computer:

    http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/E/Excalibur.asp

Oh..I installed it and peeked about, but that was all and found this cheasy Excalibur
hidin' in my startup, Windows Task Manager and control panel did not show it, Magic Tweak
turned it up...Even after AdAware and Spybot S&D had supposedly removed it..The clever lil
******* that designed this did a very good job camoflauging it's presence(the Lop.com
folks should hire these guys). Only after I deleted it via MT was I able to finally remove
all the registry entries that were being rewritten after each reboot...Neither Trojan
Scanning or AV found it either..This is a totally professional backdoor hack prog, nothing
    cheesy about it..a #1 F*CK!!

Then decide for yourself, if not the RIAA, maybe the FBI/Justice Dept(or all parties
jointly)..They all have been granted carte blanche to do as they damn well please and
    ignore the Bill of Rights..

Try to quote others properly: If you're going to snip TR Garner's entire
message, state so. Otherwise you give the impression he wrote whatever was in
    you message.

Jay Michaels Or @ least Jay Michaels posted this article, as saying that it was
    quoted as:

    >The Earthstation 5 (ES5) P2P app, which boasts anonymous sharing
    >and security, is actually software designed by contractors hired
    >by the RIAA!

What is the name of said contractors? Who hired them? When? What is their
company names and what direct ties to RIAA do they have? No proof in this
    sentence is listed.

    >The "Dating" feature was designed to trick users
    >into entering their personal info, which makes it easier for the
    >RIAA to compile statistics and track down users.

As w/ any form that compiles user stats, what purpose other than to sell? My
belief is that they'll use this as another revenue stream. I myself have no
proof to this, other than to say why compile such statistics?

    >All traffic statistics are routed through proxies operated by agencies
    >working for the RIAA, most notably BayTSP and MediaForce.

How is the traffic followed through proxies? Is RIAA BayTSP/MediaForce's only
customer? Do you start attacking every contractor/sub-contractor that has
dealings w/ the RIAA? I've seen this in the past, it was used by public
protestors, when I worked at the Pentagon "dude, its like your part of the
system, any one person can stop", yeah, 5k+ personnel and me, a simple
secretary... yeah right...Anyway, this 1960's Hippy BS doesn't fly.

    >The cheesy outerspace theme was designed to appeal to newbies while
    >appearing to have a feeling of security to it without scaring
    >away the non-techies. Company info for ES5 is very vague, ...
    >can you guess why?

So, if a cmd-line was made, you'd say that the "command line was designed to
appeal to technical newbies"?? Maybe they like space? Dunno why, who really
cares, I'm not an artist, its cheesey, I will agree w/ you on that part.

By saying that the company info is vague then they automatically work for the
RIAA is rather "a leap of logic" right? How do you know I don't work for the
RIAA, maybe this USENET Group was formed by the RIAA??? Yeah, now they can track
everyone, after all, its vague, we all talk to each other w/out a thought or
concern, what better way to "spy" on ppl. Vague? Yes, Can YOU guess why?

    >ES5 is just one of the many projects in effect by the RIAA. The
    >MPAA is staying somewhat neutral at the moment, but has similiar
    >plans in store.

Based on what proof? Again, you make an statement but do not follow up w/
anything. You state, one of many projects, what other projects, are you a mole,
got the skinny on the down-low???

    >BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT USE ES5!

Actually the only reason not to use ES5 is that the quantity of files being
shared is rather low, b/c this is a new P2P program, but then I do not really
know anything, I use WinMX, haven't heard a peep out of the authors for over a
year, maybe they work as well?? Hmmm, how about any of the DOZEN's of P2P
clients out there, bottom line, you have to put your faith in one of the
    programs and use it.

    <end repost>

How do you use Magic Tweak to do such stuff ? I'd be appreciative for a step
    by step mate - thanks.

Magic Tweak shows all of the Start-up list, including the hidden ones not shown in
explorer as hidden, but it will reveal what is supposedly a ghost entry..jv16 tools did
not show it in the startup, nor did AV or adaware or spybot .., I keep a close eye on
software install/de-install..and am usually aware of what should or should not be
there..it is in the Advanced panel...I also go to several known"Drive-By" attack sites
just to see if they are still passing out the crap, if they are, I refer them to CERT for
    a check-up..
