    I am desperate for help.
My computer has been taken over by the oldfogie virus.
This only attaches itself to certain newsgroups but when infected, no matter
how many times I compact/remove messages it comes back almost immediately,
Even rebooting, scanning with ad-aware,spybot and various Trojan and virus
programs have failed to remove it.
I have heard a rumour that a program called Hi-Jack This can rid my computer
of this evil possession. Is this so?

Sorry, but there is no cure/fix for the oldfogie virus. It is totally
stealth. Little do you realize that at a predetermined but unknown
time in the near future, it will, through undetectable subliminal
messages on your screen, convince you that your computer is too old
and too slow (hence the oldfogie moniker). You will then go out
(against your will) and buy/upgrade to a new faster mega-speed
computer. There is a "work-around" however. By not using your computer
from this point on, you will never experience its wrath. Reports from
the field indicate that this work-around is very effective. But, if
you continue to use your computer, mark my words, this virus will
getcha. So, when you eventually find yourself sitting in front of your
new computer, realize that your old computer was in fact infected. Be
careful though, this virus has the capability of infecting your new
computer! And so the cycle continues. Insidious, isn't it?
