    Smile Winlogon Notify

    On startup I have 020:

    WinlogonNotify:WgaLogon-C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Wgal.ogon.dll

I am not sure what this is. Have tried to delete and keeps coming back.

    Thank you,

Please verify the spelling of the listing in bold. IS there a . between Wgal and ogon?

If there is NOT a . then this is a perfectly legitimate entry in the HJT log.
    It refers to
Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) is a program initiated by Microsoft that requires users of Microsoft Windows to validate their copy of several recent Microsoft operating systems when accessing several Microsoft Windows services, such as Windows Update and downloading from the Microsoft Download Center. Previously voluntary, it became mandatory for use of these services in July, 2005.

    Red face seeing dots

I DO see a dot. the thing says
    Wgal.ogon.dll
    And believe me...this computer is
possessed of an evil spirit which I have
been trying to exorcise for weeks. I have
to re-install my Foxfire Browser every time
I start up, though the icon is on the screen.
I got the upgrade to "7", but it won't 'take'.
so what do I do about the version with the dot?
