    HITACHI deskstar

    my deskstar died

it was making teh famous *Ja KEET! Ja KEET! Ja KEET! Ja KEET! *

and i have all my old Lp's on here (along with alot of other irreplaceable music)

and i've held on to the drive in hopes that one day i'd get my data back!

    it's the HDS722580vlat20
    and i just came across a hds728080plat20

both are oddity's with 82.3GB and 160.836.480 sectors. (EIDE)

i was wondering... what do you think would happen if i transplanted my platters from the old HDD to the new one?

i know they are very persition instraments but i really need this data off

the HDD only has to work for 45/50 minutes (so i copy data off)

this is the best match HDD i've found in the 2/3 years i've been holding onto this drive

If its that critical that you get the data off the drives, its may be worth a try...

...and, theres a reason why Deskstar rhymes with deathstar.
