    Instead of using msconfig to disable Start Up items I recommend using Mike Lin's StartUp Control Panel. Nice little program, easy to use, easy to enable or disable anything unneeded at Start and it leaves msconfig completely out of the picture.
    Just download, install and then you will find it in your Control Panel with a little Computer Icon and labeled Start Up. Remove checkmarks from items you don't want to auto start. Click OK. Close the program, Reboot and that is it.
