The jumpers are a possibility. You'd have to know how they were setup on the old hard drives to know which way to set them up on the new one.

The new drives should have come with jumpers, even OEM drives come with a jumper...

I'm not sure if the hard drives should have the jumpers set to cable select (CS) or Master (MA) and slave (SL).

Good to hear!! Glad it's all working for you. If you don't mind us asking, what did you set the jumpers as?

hdd position 0 doesn't get jumpered.
hdd position 1 (slave?) gets the jumper. Looking at the connection end, there are 4 pins that are separated from the rest. The 2 on the very outside edge get jumpered.
Funny though, I looked at the original toshiba hdds and there are no jumpers anywhere! Go figure.
    Thanks again for your efforts,
    Jim

Ahh makes sense. Glad it worked. The first drive usually won't need jumpers as it will be considered the master drive, the second is jumpered as slave.
