    Fast talking media player

I am suddenly having weird problems with Windows Media Player 10. DVD's don't have any sound, and mp3's are at triple speed; even selecting "slow" is too fast. It sounds like the chipmunks have taken over.

Since I had installed several updates August 19, I removed them, starting with WMP update, then rebooted. Still the same problem. I don't know where to go from here. BTW, everything plays fine in other players. This is definitely a WMP issue.

I almost forgot to mention that not ALL audio files play overly fast. The ones that I've played recently, within the past couple of days, play fine. But others that I haven't played in a while, even those that used to play just fine, are affected.

Have you tried totally uninstalling WMP and downloading a new copy and then installing this new one?

I hadn't tried that. The download is so big that I was putting it off, hoping for another way. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and download overnight. Ah, what I'd give for broadband!
