Well, I took your advice and just got two 512MB RAM modules from Crucial and they don't work. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook ze5300 series (actually ze5375us) and I bought two 512MB 200-PIN SODIMM 64Mx64 DDR PC2700 NON-ECC PbF.
When I installed them the computer would not boot. It had power. In addition to the Power light, the caps lock, num lock etc. lights came on, but unlike a regular bootup, those lights never went off. The fan and everything came on, but nothing ever appeared on the screen.
I reseated the memory several times and used good anti-static procedures.
Then I put one of the old 256MB modules in along with one of the new ones. The computer booted, but only showed 256MB of RAM. I attempted the same thing with the other new 512, and again it only recognized the old 256MB RAM.
I even switched which slot had the 256 and which one had the 512 and got the same results.
The bottom line is that neither of my new memory modules is being recognized in either slot.
All lines at Crucial are busy and the recording is telling me to call back later. I couldn't find any information at HP either. Any ideas?
E.
