You also might try running Belarc Advisor this will tell you pretty much everything about the system and also if it can handle more.

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook PC. The maximum memory that it will allow is 1 GB. Unfortunately, I currently have 256K in each of the two slots. Does that mean that I'm going to have to replace both of them with 512 K modules to see a difference? Is it worth it?
