    Laptop boot problems.

I just got this laptop about 2 months ago and when i try to boot it up, it shuts down mid-boot. It even happens when I try to take it off sleep mode. I can sometimes get it to work if I hit a ton of keys and move my mouse all crazy like. It just shuts off after the windows logo without any warning at all.

Are you certain it actually shuts off? My desktop screen goes black AFTER the Windows Logo for a few seconds and then continues the boot process, always has.
Have you checked with the manufacturer? Just two months old it certainly should still be under warranty, even if you just have a 90 day warranty. You don't want to do anything to void the warranty so you might check with them.

Yes it definatly shuts off, and I think my warrenty is ip, so the mfg won't be any help unless I send it to them. I was thinking that my processor clocks down too much for it to boot, which is why it works when I shake the mouse all crazy and hit a ton of buttons. Could that be it?

I doubt the clocks are the problem.

Have you reinstalled Windows or doing a restore yet? Did you update some drivers from Windows Update or the some other manufacturer's site?

If you are having problems at the Windows splash screen, its due to Windows, drivers, or other applications - not hardware. Of those three things mentioned, 80% of the time it is a driver, 19.9999% it is an application, 0.0001% of the time is Windows.

Try booting in safe mode to bypass any applications.

    1. hit power button
    2. start tapping the {F8} key
    3. When prompted, select "Boot in Safe Mode - Network Support" or some thing like that..

If it makes it to the desktop it was an application causing the problem. If it doesn't make it to the desktop, it was a primary driver - chipset, IDE, SATA, VGA (biggest offender being chipset). A restore or reinstall of Windows may be necessary from that point. If it was an application, just run MSCONFIG and uncheck any/all appz. Then reboot to normal, then run MSCONFIG to and recheck an application and reboot.. continue until you find the one that did it.

I'm sorry for the late reply, I did what you said and it didn't seem to work. It is better, I don't have to go crazy with my mouse, butI do have to stay here and move it a bit. I unchecked all my start up programs that arn't required after I did then thing you said.

It completly powers down after the windows logo goes away, My BIOS says I have quick boot on, would that matter?
