Ok, you are running HiJackThis from here;
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\hjtscan.exe.exe
It should be saved to a folder which you create;
C:\Program Files\HijackThis OR C:\HijackThis
To create a new folder:
Click START > My Computer > Local Disc C: > Program Files
Now, RightClick on an Empty Area and select New > Folder & name it HijackThis and Click ENTER. Then put HiJackThis in That new folder.
This is so that a backup of fixes can be made in case they have to be "undone". This is very important.
Now, as far as AVG Anti-spy. You say that you cannot run it. Can you tell me EXACTLY what happens when you do try to run it.
Please see my attachments regarding buttons you need to press.
The buttons "look" greyed out, but if you click on them they should work, unless the program is not correctly installed.
When you click on the Scanner Button, Choose Full System Scan.
When that opens click on the Settings Tab. On the top right, Under Reports, please choose Automatically Generate Report After Every Scan
I realize this is very frustrating, but there is no quick fix here, it WILL be a time consuming process. I will stick with you as long as it takes but you have to give me time to determine what all needs to be done.
One of these, hopefully, is running a successful AVG Anti-Spy scan. It WILL remove many items if it can run correctly, and in SAFE MODE.
Judy
