    Color and brightness of screen

I have a SONY Vaio laptop and here are two questions:

    - my old computer's CRT had a dial to control brightness. I haven't found any on this computer, nor a way to modify brightness digitally. Is there a way to do this?

    - How can I change the basic background color on the screen? Everything is coming out white nowadays. I had changed things around after eye surgery and now that my eye is improved I changed things back. Now nothing I do seems to change the background color. I'd like something a bit softer than "brite white."

Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Sorry it has taken so long for anyone to get back to you.
You should check out either the manual that came with the computer or visit this site for information on how to change your monitor settings.

On my dell and old compaq laptops, the brightness is controled by the the Fn key and other key. my dell uses the up down arrows and the compaq used two of the F keys.

Look for a pair of keys on your keyboard with blue or dark colored symbols that looks like it controls brightness.

The colors are controlled by right clicking on your desktop and going to properties. then choose the appearance tab.

If the Fn keys dont work, you may be able to adjust color, brightness and contrast from the advanced controls of your video adaptor depending on your video chipset:

    1. right click on desktop
    2. goto Properties
    3. select the Settings tab
    4. click on Advanced
    5. look tabs over for controls..
