I'm just currious if the CPU Mhz displayed at post, in CPUZ is the actual core Mhz that the individual cores are running at, or if the core frequencies are lied together, to get "total MHz" or total GHz... Can't find it in the white papers.

Each core of multi-cores run at the advertised speed. My computer is a 1.8GHz Opteron. I oc'd it to 2.16GHz. Each core runs at 2.16GHz separately. Check my thread about this new CPU to see SS.

LOL! Not sure. I love my opteron though. This thing is a frickin beast. It way outdoes my Core 2 that's in my laptop.

Try this one on for size4 cores each at 3.4Ghz. They get hot so I'm actually running them at 3.3Ghz now, but it ran fine at 3.4Ghz, just too freakin hot for air.

Don't you read benchmarks? The quad-cores are pointless at this stage. The only thing that they are good for, is folding (obviously) because the OS still can't utilize that many cores and multi-threading.
But I will say, that's a beautiful setup, but the last time I checked, which by the way was just now - I like that Core Temp Prog, my computers cores ran at 55C running foldingThat's all stock cooling

At 3.3Ghz running f@h i'm seeing 60c across all 4 cores . The OS may not be able to take advantage of 4 cores but I sure can. I just finished an hour long session of WoW (not the most intensive game), with the Windows SMP f@h client running in the background while also encoding the movie elf to wmv for my kids video jukebox.I've got two more movies to encode today (madagascar and hulk). Even with f@h running and the videos encoding, I notice no pauses or slowdowns with anything else I choose to do. I would also point out that I will be done encoding all three in about two more hours. (with f@h running)
It does suck the juice though, I actually noticed it in my electric bill. Probably 2 or 3KWH/day higher than this time last year. I was running an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ a year ago.

LOL!! I am consistently running 2 cores with f@h. I have been able to play NFS: Carbon while having NFS:MW running in the background. This baby will rock with no problems. Best part about it all, I have all of this power, and it only draws 170W (the WHOLE computer w/o monitor) at idle. (Idle is considered turned on, with no extra programs running save for my two F@H).

Theres a break in folding recently because I've been running 4 instances of prime95 a lot checking stability.
What's even better is that once things calm down a bit I will be buying a G0 stepping q6600. That will be two quads folding 24/7 365. I should be able to save a few bucks on my heating bill this winter![]()
