Of course they are and they can, why? Because all technology items are pretty much made in China. So they had first hand access to all design details etc.
What were they supposed to do, agree to their dirt-paying contract and stop making use of that data/knowledge once they were done with the given order?
They are doing the same thing that Japanese did back in the 60s thru early 80s, they were like China, their products were considered lower quality than US/Europe made ones. They worked hard and surpassed the rest. china is doing the same name, followed by a few others. India's taken over the IT/Support industry much like the unions had taken blue collar jobs in the east coast.

History is funny, once starving, underdeveloped Western countries got introduced to gun powder that came from the Orient, they became the power and owned most civilizations in the East...now it is payback time for them!

I dont think it will be expensive long. China is selling knockoffs.

Oddly enough, it's a knockoff that's rumored to have more connectivity options, an open source OS, is an unlocked phone, has a user replaceable battery and several other improvements for $150 less and no contract requirements.

Basically it's what Apple should have released.

Meizu's M8

I've got a Meizu mp3/media player and it is very nice. Their quality is pretty good, can't say if it's longevity is first rate though since I've only had it for a month. It's not strictly an i-pod ripoff, but you can see the i-pod's influence for sure.

most times when I hear someone mention China knockoffs, its a bad thing. for a country that believes competition is good, Americans get very defensive with they have competition.
