How far do you get?The computer loads all the neccessary drivers etc. then stops.

Any errors?
Then an error comes up about a certain "svchost.exe" not able to be loaded/started. I can't remember what the rest of the message contains.

Does the system freeze or just gets stuck at a certain point or reboots automatically?
No.

System file (including registry) or a serious malware infection/ post infection collateral due to improper cleanup are the most common causes of this problem.
The problem may come from that cause.

Do you recall anything out of the ordinary happening to this system before this problem started?
Just that the computer contracted some sort of virus, I do not know how severe/level of the virus.

Any prior infections or other system issues?

So the system boots up all to way to the desktop just fine but about a minute later it reboots?
If it is hw related, then the biggest suspect would be PSU but you did hinted that you had some previous/recent malicious infection and the symptoms you mentioned somewhat fit the description of the old sasser/blaster type infections.

Have you already gone through PhilliePhan's sticky in the Spyware/HijackThis section? If not, I'd advise you to do so...and Jholland should follow up on this if needed.

I have also encountered (you may have seen from my other thread) one file folder in which there are a bunch of files each of which are critical to me personally (not to the computer) and I cannot access them. A message comes up that says I do not have permission to even view the file let alone try and use it. More on that later with the right questions.
Where is the exact location of this folder? Can you copy/move the folder elsewhere? Were these documents created under the same user you are logged in as?

If the above fails, just for giggles, can you access/copy the files thru command line?
