Select the boot device with the up and down arrows, press enter for the desired device.

Also, if you look at the bottom of your BIOS screen, it should tell you what keys you need to press to modify/change the values.

Nothing changes. I tried following the instructions to the side of the window -couldn't change anything. Your instructions were the same - no change.

Is there a setting somewhere in the BIOS that would prevent me from making changes?

I don't see anything at the bottom of my screen. To the left side there's - Select Screen, Select Item, Sub-Menu, F1, F9, F10 & ESC. Are there others I just can't see?

The most common keys to change a setting is either the +/- combination or the F5\F6 key combination. If neither works then once you highlight the desired settings press ENTER is a new window appears then use the up/down arrows to modify it. if still no help, please give the make and model of your BIOS.

Ok, I may not be around but one of the other guys will follow up. Also I don't think you installed and ran the Rootkit Hook Analyzer program, Rootkit Revealer is a good program too but it doesn't remove any even if it found, I also live the Rootkit Hook Analyzer a bit better so I suggest you d/l and run it on the infected system when you get a chance. If it finds anything, have it remove them.

    Good Luck.

Now from this command prompt window, here is what I want you to do. Enter the below commands (the commands are in bold black, comments in purple text).
    copy c:\windows\system32\dllcache\explorer.exe c:\windows\explorer.exe
exit <--- this will exit the Recovery Console and boot to Windows
When I type in the command it says "The system cannot find the file specified". I've tried it twice & doubled checked that I typed it in correctly.

Boot to the recovery console. At the Command Prompt:

    Type map
    press enter

Note the drive letter for your CD drive.

Type the following commands at the command prompt, pressing enter after each command:
    expand D:\i386\explorer.ex_ C:\windows\
    exit

Replace D with the drive letter for your CD Drive.
