See if you can open registry editor and browse to this location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

within the Uninstall sub-key you will see all OS installed and user installed entries which most would also appear in the Add-Remove Programs applet.
Try clicking on each one of them on the left hand side to see if you get any errors when it tries to display its sub-keys,values, etc. which would appear on the right hand side.
