    drill glass

i need to drill some glass, but i dont have a ceramic/glass drill bit, nor do i have any diamond tipped bits. all i have is a dremel, and a drill with just regular wood bits. i got most of the way through, but the stone i used on my dremel is almost worn out. whats the best way to get through glass without a glass bit?

Without the proper bit, it will be very hard. You have to go real slow (slow rotation, minimal pressure, etc.) and keep the glass and especially the bit you are using very cool.

Also check out these suggestions, I have heard some guys using olive oil when cutting glass but never tried it myself.

using a slow speed - a dremel tool is not ideal, sorry
a metal tube, and some valve grinding compound (a quite abrasive paste)

    this method works well

and yes, for cutting glass any lightweight oil aids in the cutting
sound odd, but glass does cut better and easier when oil is dispensed on the cut line
something about glass being a liquid substance and the oil prevents it from rejoining as the cutter passes
yeah, i know, but it does make it easier - and makes me sound crazy

not to mention the sound of coarse stone rubbing against glass for an hour was awesome.

Well, it worked for me better than going fast and applying too much pressure (or was it one of my intimate dates, not sure which one it worked with but it did so bite me...lol).

PS. Baby oil works better on my dates as well...
