Microsoft says xbox gamers will play PC gamers via live

"REDMOND, Wash. — March 14, 2007 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the extension of the Xbox LIVE® games and entertainment network to the Windows® platform, bringing together the most popular online console game service with the most popular games platform in the world. Debuting on May 8, 2007, with the launch of the Windows Vista™ version of the Xbox® blockbuster “Halo® 2,” Games for Windows — LIVE will connect Windows gamers to over six million gamers already in the Xbox LIVE community. Then, launching in June, “Shadowrun™” will for the first time connect Windows gamers with Xbox 360™ players in cross-platform matches using a single service. “UNO®,” releasing later in 2007, will also support cross-platform play between Windows and Xbox 360."

To me, it seems like MS is using the 'gaming' angle to sell more copies of 'pos' Vista!

probly correct, which is one of the reasons I left halo2 for PC on the shelf at the store LOL, it required VISTA and LIVE... even though the PC is much better at 3d than the xbox 360, via 2x 8800gts sli, core 2 e6600, raid, sli memory etc... Adding vista would probly DEGRADE the performance down to that of the 360 HEH..

I saw halo 2...almost picked it up and bought it w/o even thinking about it...now I'm glad I didn't...MS sucks, plain and simple.

Yes, they have a good general idea, but making everyone upgrade and crap is stupid as hell.[/rant]

yeah it is a bummer, I was looking forward to using the mouse and keyboard on that game. Reading through PC gamer, August 2007; page 104.

Skip about half way through the fluff..

"And yet, we're expected to be so hungry for this game that not only will we buy it, but we'll upgrade our entire operating system, too. Microsoft seems to think that the Halo brand can be a "system-seller" on the PC the way it has been on consoles. UH, no. People aren't going to jack up their systems with an expensive unwieldy, resource-hogging, and largely unproven OS just to play this game, and anyone who thinks so has been spending too much time hanging out with the other stoners on Xbox live."
Skip the rest of the fluff..
