network IP address lease set toooo short?
Network card going to power save mode?
back from hiatus.
Try getting a Firewall and turn your computer and/or Internet off when you are sleeping. You never know when someone's going to get onto your computer without authorization.
How are you connected to the internet?
If you are connected via Cable, you need to unplug it from your cable BOX and then wait for exactly 2 - 5 minutes to wait for cooling of connection and/or box. Then plug it up again and wait for 10-15 seconds for connection to reach, connect, then validate.

To make sure you don't have a virus or something, run HiJackThis and then run a Spybot Search and Destroy scan and perhaps run Ewido and perhaps Ad-Aware SE to make sure that a Trojan or Adware isn't causing this dilemna towards you getting no Internet connection after a certain time.
Make sure you don't have a Firewall blocking a program that gives you Internet (e.g. college programs for security)

I am using a cable connection. I have unplugged and waited but am still haveing the same problem. The screen says server not found. I have to reboot several times before I can get a connection. I have run AVG, Spybot and Ad-Ware. Shows no problems.

Have you checked with your Internet Provider? There may be some settings which need adjusting. They should be able to help you with those. Occasionally, for some reason these will get changed or corrupted and the connection just needs to be wiped out and set up again. I would call their help line and see what they say.
