Exclamation BIOS problems, caused by spyware?

I have a problem with my laptop. My computer restarts on its own and then the screen turns blue. I am informedI have a problem, that "A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated." I am then instucted to turn off my computer, restart in safe mode and check any recently installed hardware or software.

The first time this happened, the system just did a memory dump and everything was fine, so I thought it was a one off, bt now it has happened again. First time, i had Windows Media Player open and was playing a movie I downloaded, this time I only had Azureus, the torrent downloader, running. I am using a new infared mouse, but it works fine 99% of the time, could this be the problem? The message told me to switch of BIOS settings such as caching and shadowing, but aint this crucial for good performance?

The rest fo the message stated this "*** STOP: 0x00000000F4 (0x00000003, 0xFFAACDA0, 0xFFAAFCF14, 0x805F9F88)" and then "Memory dump in progress: " then numbers starting from one appeared, but not representing seconds as 1 to 2 took several minutes.

Can anyone help me? I am using a hp pavillion ze5600 with WINDOWS XP Service Pack 3, and the mouse is a Tiny with S/N: M00022827. The Aureus is the latest version, Windows media player is version 10. I have done a sweep using adaware (private use) and spybot (latest version).

    Thank for any future help!

How can you be running XP with SP3? It is not supposed to be released until the 2nd half of 2007.

Hmmm...Right Click My Computer. Choose Properties. What does the first page, General show...Mine says System, Micorsoft Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2
    1. Examine the “System” and “Application” logs in Event Viewer for other recent errors that might give further clues. To do this, launch EventVwr.msc from a Run box; or open “Administrative Tools” in the Control Panel then launch Event Viewer.
    2. If you’ve recently added new hardware, remove it and retest.
    3. Run hardware diagnostics supplied by the manufacturer.
    4. Make sure device drivers and system BIOS are up-to-date.
    5. However, if you’ve installed new drivers just before the problem appeared, try rolling them back to the older ones.
I am using a new infared mouse, but it works fine 99% of the time, could this be the problem?
The sentence above has me wondering also...what do you mean by works fine 99% of the time? If all is fine with this mouse then it should work 100% of the time. What happens that other 1% of the time when it doesn't work?

    1. About the mouse, sometimes the scroller will not work, that is what I mean by it sometimes does not work.

    2. It says Service Pack 2. So what the hell did the comp automatically install?!

3.Problem occurred again, but this time I got a bit more info, It identified the problem this time, KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. The same numbers appeared too, ***STOP 0x0000007A (0xC020183C, 0xC000000E, 0x8060F734, 0x0452D860)

What version of Azureus are you using? Have you had problems with any other mouse or just this one?

Download MEMTEST onto another machine. Create the boot floppy and check your Ram memory at bootup. It's possible you have Ram issues. You could also try and "reseat" the Ram.

To be honest, that is beyond me. I have also experienced this twice in the last couple of days: Computer restarts itself then I get a message saying there was problems accessing the hard drive. The first time it was just obscure but ths time it has stated these files were the problem

    C:\DOCUME~1\MICHAE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8d8a.dir00\M ini091606-01.dmp
    C:\DOCUME~1\MICHAE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8d8a.dir00\s ysdata.xml

Azureus had been left to run overnight. I am thinking Azureus is now the problem. Would uninstalling it and reinstalling solve the problem, do you think? Or should I scrapp Azureus altogheter?

This is the information page that Microsft offered as help
    http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response...cec7b0&SID=708

Thank you for any future help

Still think this points to possible RAM problem. Did you run the MEM Test as suggested?
