Think Korea time frame and the M16A1 (fully auto w/20rnd mags)

Present time- M16A2, M16A3, M4 etc. (semi auto / 3rnd burst & 30/rnd mag)

Korea: M1 Garand(semi-auto - 8rd), M1 Carbine(auto 15-30rd), M1903(bolt action). The M14 might have been introduced late in the Korean days. M16 was a Vietnam rifle.
