    Explain how everyone is related.
ANSWER: Two widows each had a son, and each widow married the son of the other and then each had a daughter.

    NEXT RIDDLE:

Mr. Grumper grumbles about bad time-keeping trains like everybody else. On one particular morning he was justified, though. The train left on time for the one hour journey and it arrived 5 minutes late. However, Mr. Grumper's watch showed it to be 3 minutes early, so he adjusted his watch by putting it forward 3 minutes. His watch kept time during the day, and on the return journey in the evening the train started on time, according to his watch, and arrived on time, according to the station clock. If the train traveled 25 percent faster on the return journey than it did on the morning journey, was the station clock fast or slow, and by how much?

So I guess I gotta show my work now.
He left at 7:00 am and arrived at 8:05 am according to the station clock and 7:57 by his watch. He then set his watch to 8:00. He then left for home at 5:00 pm and arrived at 6:00 pm by the station clock, yet the trip back only took 45 minutes (25% faster) so his watch should have read 5:45 making the station clock 15 minutes fast.

What a confusing, illogical way of explaining a mathematical problem to make it seem like a riddle! The story has so many missing parts and also certain parts do not add up! Did I miss something?

~ The train arrived 5 minutes late, was it really late or was it according to the station clock (which, I think at this point, we all realized was fast)?

    FACTS:
He adjusted his watch 3 mins ahead.
Train was 25% faster on the way back.

A- If the train was indeed 5 minutes late, then that idiot's watch is 8 minutes behind (slow): He set it 3 mins ahead so now his watch is only 5 mins behind.
Train left on-time according to his watch meaning the train left 5mins early. Arrived on-time according to the station clock which was accurate, then it took 45+5mins for the trian to travel, it doesn't make sense.

    So,
B- If it was on-time but according to the station clock, late, then his clock was only 3mins late(but still slow) and the station clock is 5mins fast. He set his clock 3mins ahead but the station clock is still 5mins ahead of his watch.
Train left on time according to his watch, that is presumably showing the correct time, then the station clock(s - remember there has got to be at least 2 separate station clocks but f'ed up and in dire need of servicing), showed the train to be on time, on-time as in the trip was supposed to take an hour but without Mr. Whatever's knowledge, was indeed 25% faster so it took 45 mins?
If the trip indeed took only 45 mins and this stupid station clock that was actually 5mins ahead in the morning is now on par with the actual time then it is actually 5mins (9%) slower but what if we have to factor in the hours between the first ride and the second ride and how late the station clocks became....arrggh...too many gaps and variables...

I am getting a headache even thinking about this retarded BS excuse of a riddle!

ANSWER: The station clock is 3 minutes fast. The morning journey took 65 minutes, and the evening journey therefore took 52 minutes, and the train arrived 57 minutes after it should have left, that is, 3 minutes early.

This is an unusual day, and so is this paragraph. How quickly can you find out what is so uncommon about it? It looks so ordinary that you may think nothing is odd about it until you match it with most paragraphs this long. If you put your mind to it, and study it, you will find out, but nobody may assist you. Do it without any coaching. Go to work and try your skill at figuring it out. Par on it is about half an hour. Good Luck!

IN lieu of the quick response.

ANSWER (Congrats mrweasel): The letter 'e' is missing.

NEXT RIDDLE (since we are all here, I expect I should get a few good answers):

QWERTYUIOP are the letters on the top row of letters on a standard typing keyboard. What is the longest word that can be typed using just those letters? Pepper is one but you should be able to come up with a longer one (or several longer ones).

ANSWER (Congrats Knight): Typewriter is usually the most common word formed from those letters. Others are: Repertoire, Proprietor, Proprietory. Have any others?
