Yet my first and my seond(nay, think not I cozen),

NEXT RIDDLE (Let's kickstart the brains for the week):

A man ordered a length of rope by telephone from his hardware store. But when he went to collect the rope, he found that the assistant had miswritten the order by interchanging feet and inches. As a result of this, the rope was only 30% of the length that the man wanted. So, what length did he want and what length did he get?

Used trial and error to get this one. I'm not sure if there is a mathematical formula for it or not, but I came up with him requesting 9'2" of rope and getting 2'9". So was this the same store that did the Stonehenge sculpture for Spinal Tap?

I agree with the new post *****.

lets see formula would be something like 12x+y=.3(12y+x)
solve for x in terms of y
the other formula you need is x=12y

    I think.

ANSWER (Congrats Acoustikarl): He requested 9'2" and got 2'9".

    NEXT RIDDLE:

What is it that stands aloft and regulates our daily movements, yet feels no interest in our concerns; directs us when to go and when to come. Yet cares not whether we attend of not; still, thus indifferent to our fate, often strikes a blow to urge us on, though we feel no resentment when the reproof is given?

LOL!! As fitting as boss/supervisor/etc. sounds here, it's not the answer.
