And Knight, no the riddle implied that the room would be empty if it was not for those 20 people, meaning there is nothing else in the room but those 20 losers, kinda like the 4 losers in this room/thread!

ANSWER (Congrats Mathster): Put the apple on one person's head.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

NEXT RIDDLE (better get this one, it's an oldie):

You are standing in front of a room with one lightbulb inside of it. You cannot see if it is on or off. Outside the room there are 3 switches in the off positions. You may flip the switches any way you want to. You stop flipping the switches, enter the room and know which switch controls the lightbulb. How?

You go to the county planning office and check out the drawings for that room. DUH.

Are these normal SPST switches and only one is wired to the light?
Does one switch turn in on and the other back off?
Are they three way switches where either up or down is off or on?
there are WAY tooo many variables here.
Perhaps, the switches are actually wired to a PLC and run thru a BCD and a certain combination of three way switch positions will allow the PLC to turn the light on only after a timer has expired.

if they are all wired to the same circuit, flip any switch, it will turn on the light.
