Charles, are these the instructions you followed?

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
    Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
    Click on System Startup icon.
    Uncheck Teatimer box.
    Click Allow Change box.

    Open AdAware SE.
    Go to AdWatch User Interface.
    Go to Tools and Preferences.
At the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options Active and Automatic.
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it.
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically.
Uncheck both options. You can enable these after resolving your problem.

What version of Spybot are you running? The reason I ask is that there was an older version which identified a specific file as Clearsearch.net but it was a false positive which was corrected in later versions.

Also, you never commented about the fact that CursorXP and ATI programs ARE running on your computer. Neither are bad programs but since you said you had neither I must assume you did not realize that they were installed. Cursor XP is from Stardock. ATI has numerous graphics cards, programs, media programs, etc.
I really don't see lots of "bad" items running in you HJT log
    These can be fixed;
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0CF0B8EE-6596-11D5-A98E-0003470BB48E} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BDBD1DAD-C946-4A17-ADC1-64B5B4FF55D0} - (no file)

I really don't see Clearsearch anywhere. You DO have an extraordinary number of programs set to run at start up which are totally unnecessary and can easily be run manually. That one ATI program, ATI Launchpad, would actually start many of them if needed. That is what that is, a Multimedia Start center really. So that you need not have all those running all the time.

    Smile CharlesP to Judy.

    Hello Judy,
Firstly, I followed the exact procedure you described with Spybot but made a mess of Adwatch! (2) It is a very old copy of Spybot and I will renew it. The drivers for my MSI Personal cinema card use an Ati facility and I have been scared to remove 'ATI' from my start-up. I use A/Shampoo Win Optomiser and no matter how often I remove Cursor XP or ATI multimedia they keep coming back. I've even gone into the Registry and removed them and they reappear!
I hope you'll allow me to get back to you when I've tried it all again and taken all the unnecessary rubbish out of my start up. Can't thank you enough for your patience and assistance
    Chas.

If you are using a very old copy of spybot then all these notifications are false positives. YOU HAVE NOTHING BAD on your system.

Remove that old copy and download a new free version of spybot. DO NOT unistall the ATI it IS a legitimate program. The two programs you are trying to remove are legitimate programs. Leave them alone. Spybot is the problem.

I REPEAT....UNINSTALL that old version SPYBOT. It is giving you false positives. The old version had this problem the NEW version DOES NOT. Please uninstall the old version and download the NEW FREE version. Don't worry about the paid version, you do not need it. Actually the same goes for AdAwareSE. The free version is ENOUGH.

You should never, ever run old, out of date versions of anti-virus, anti-spy, anti-malware, anti-trojans programs on your computer. THESE MUST ALWAYS be kept Up to DATE.
As you can see, out of date programs like these cause problems.
