Question Before Posting Assistance Request

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I am having computer problems. I am going to follow the instructions given in the "Before Posting A Request For Assistance" sticky, but I do have a question about those steps.

I am running Windows XP on an emachines PC and I have McAffee Security Suite installed on my machine. This includes an anti-virus and anti-spyware components. I also have ZoneAlarm firewall installed. Will my McAffee components conflict with the AVG Anti-Spyware and the Microsoft Windows Defender that I am instructed to download and install?

I also have Spybot Search & Destroy installed, which I see you suggest using if I cannot use either AVG Anti-Spyware or Microsoft Windows Defender, so if I have to, I can follow the instructions using that.

I have downloaded everything else and am ready to start, once I get an answer to this question. Thanks so much for your time. This forum is a great service.

The programs suggested in the sticky should not interfere with or cause problems with the security programs you all ready have. Just be sure to turn off the Spybot TeaTimer if you do have that running because that can cause difficulties removing some items. All the programs you mentioned are just fine, and all recommended programs. Good that you asked, it is always better to ask before plunging ahead. Just take your time, follow the steps exactly as given and then post your logs back here when complete.
