Rootkits are programs that hide the presence of malware programs. Some trojans like at least one showing in your HJT log

Added by the Backdoor.Win32.Agent.alf TROJAN. This infection is known to sometimes include a Rootkit infection.

A rootkit can take full control of a system, not always, but can. A rootkit's only purpose is to hide files. Some attack the system, some only are there to hide themselves from scanners. They are really hard to get rid of, but thankfully threre are some programs now to detect them. Hopefully Blacklight will find this one, since the AVG Anti-Rootkit did not.

No luck pulling it out with the Blacklight, it looks like, unless there's some extra deep search that I didn't get done right.

When you did the manual search, it wasn't found either, correct? This is why I felt certain we would find a rootkit.
Ok, then let's try just the HJT fix.
Run HJT again and place checkmarks next to the following;
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qwertybot.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\qwertybot.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IpWins] C:\Program Files\Ipwindows\ipwins.exe

Once you have placed the checkmarks then click the FIX button.
Exit HJT.
Reboot, run a new HJT scan and post the log.

In trying to do this, I received the following error window:

An unexpected error has occured at procedure: modBackup_MakeBackup(sItem=020 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\Windows\system32\perfc00.dat). Error #5 - Invalid procedure call or argument.

Then some contact merijn info and Click OK to continue the rest of the scan, which I did. Reboot and new HJT log coming momentarily.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "manual search" in Blacklight... all I saw was a single window with a Scan button... no automatic or manual options, or any options at all, really. Perhaps I missed something?

No, I didn't mean a manual search with Blacklight I meant the manual search you did earlier back in post #48

There is now a new desktop folder labelled "backups".

Those are backups of the files you removed with HiJackThis.
Now reboot to safe mode.
First run the ATF Cleaner.
Then run a new scan with AVG Anti-spy, have it fix anything found. Save the log and post it back here.

Click Here and download Killbox and save it to your desktop.


Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Delete on Reboot.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste the following:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\perfc000.dat


Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter the file name.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
It will ask if you want to reboot now,
Click Yes.

Should I stop the AVG scan, or wait until that finishes -- probably overnight -- and do the Killbox on perfc000.dat afterwards?
