Second, I have to have full-coverage on my truck as it's financed. I didn't have $5k to drop on the truck when I was getting rid of my '89 dakota (which ran like hell, BTW).

Third, my truck is still worth enough to justify full-coverage. Once it gets below the $3000 mark, I will only carry liability. But right now it's worth over $6k still.
I buy additional coverage based on what it would cost me to buy another one and put it back the way I had it, not how someone else would do it etc. I check from time to time to see what these costs are and will adjust my policy to match the current cost of doing it over if needed, if my vehicle's worth a certain amount and my 3-5 year insurance fee's are going to exceed the do over price by a great deal I will just save the money and cancel that additional coverage or not use that car and park it somewhere. Everything else is just based on the legal requirements.. I agree with the mandate that there should be something besides "court apointed fee's" available to people that are set back by an unfortunate accident where if they didn't have those coverages to take care of their needs in a timely manor, they might die, or loose their job or not be able to feed their family etc etc.. That is what liability is for and I'm glad that we have this, but some people just can't afford it without lowering their quality of life due to the current economy etc.. I'm happy to pay a "reasonable" amount to an insurance if I cause an accident that requires payment to a claim but !!!!!!!! this would need to be AFTER THE FACT!!!! think about it, if you keep getting in accidents, and have fee's pile up, you are going to have to PAY into per event premiums and so your monthly bill would total up to your actual risk factor due to the number of events and the premium based on the cost of the event. Imagine all the money you spend every year that you never use if you never get in an accident... I've had ONE! and it was something that I bought aditional coverage for just incase something like that would happen.. how about if you don't get tickes, don't have any accidents, you don't have to pay insurance untill you cause an accident, and then it becomes a simple court matter like it should be in the first place... instead of letting the insurance companies act as the judge and jurry in a legal dispute after an accident. heh... anyway.. my 2 cents.

As long as you don't take pictures we'll be fine.

Well, if there ARE pictures, make sure that thread gets a warning...that's not something I want to see......Besides...I don't have the money for a new monitor, cause that would surely destroy it.
