    Hi Rhonda,

Often these sorts of connection problems are due to your security settings.
You ought to look at your IE security settings as well as your firewall and Net Nanny, etc. . . .

At very quick glance, your HJT Log looks OK - I really didn't have time for an "in depth" look at it. Hang in there until Judy can have a look - She'll be able to advise you further.

I just wanted to pop in quickly and say that this likely isn't malware - rather more likely to be related to security settings and you might want to look there while waiting for Judy's input.

    Best Luck
    PP

Thanks for the quick reply. I have already tried disabling Netnanny and both firewalls on the laptop and main pc. I have looked in security settings in IE and cant see anything wrong that is obvious. Still with all disabled cant get onto some sites or log into instant messengers.

    Hi Rhonda,
You said disabling firewalls...you DO have only one running on the laptop, correct?
I am like PP I don't really see anything on the HJT log which would indicate a problem. Has all this begun to happen only since the IE update?

Yes i just have 1 firewall on laptop and 1 on main pc. As for other question i did lots of stuff to laptop lately so im not sure but i think it may have been since the upgrade. For ages i couldnt upgrade to IE 6 as it said on laptop it had not finished a previous instalation, I managed to sort that after ages and trying loads of things but now this has happened since i managed the upgrade.
